Weekend in Menton

The Hôtel Menton Méditerranée has a dream weekend lined up for you in the lovely town of Menton. Explore the so-called "French pearl" located 20 mins from Monaco and famous for its olive trees, lemons and fabulous beaches. Our 3* hotel awaits for a colourful and unforgettable break: walk in the old town, sample Menton's lemons, afternoon on the beach, drink on the terrace...

Friday: Afternoon exploring Menton's attractions

12pm – On arrival at the Hôtel Menton Méditerranée, our reception team will give you a warm welcome, iced tea and snack. Start your stay by recharging your batteries before heading out to explore Menton with lunch in our "Le 5" restaurant on the hotel's ground floor. Our chef serves traditional dishes with Mediterranean and Provencal flavours for lunch. Half-board and full-board packages available on request.

2.30pm – For your first time head to the Jardins Biovès in Menton town centre just a short walk from the Hotel Menton Méditerranée opposite Tourist Information. The park is home to countless floral designs, sculptures and fountains and named after Emile Biovès who was mayor of Menton in the late 19th century. This lovely promenade covers 800 metres and every year plays host to the Lemon Festival when it turns into wonderland. The Jardins de Biovès are also decorated over Christmas.

3.30pm – Head to Maison Herbin, an iconic site in Menton, to find out how its marmalades are made. Menton is famous for its sun-soaked lemons so a trip to one of the Maison Herbin factories is a must for holidaymakers. You can try this wonderful local marmalade every morning at the hotel's breakfast buffet.

4.30pm – After this zesty trip, cross the Old Town to the Saint Michel-Archange Basilica forecourt overlooking the whole of Menton. Step inside this majestic Italian-style basilica with its two clock towers and colourful baroque exterior. Menton Music Festival takes over the forecourt every August. A stone's throw from Saint-Michel Basilica is the White Penitents Chapel which was renovated in 1987 and was once home to the White Penitents.
Work up a sweat as you go up to the Montée du Souvenir where you'll find the Old Château Cemetery, one of the best and most beautiful cemeteries in France built on the relics of a fortress that once protected the town. The Old Château Cemetery has incredible views of Menton, the Chapel and Basilica making it a go-to for taking amazing holiday snaps.

Settle into your room with all mod cons in our 3* hotel before venturing up to the 7th floor to soak up the fabulous hotel rooftop. Our barman will be delighted to serve you a glass of Champagne with a tapas platter or introduce you to his amazing cocktail menu.

10am – Start the day exploring one of Menton's quirkiest sites: the Marché des Halles market on Quai de Monleon just 6 minutes from the hotel on foot. Traders love introducing visitors to the region's specialities.

11am - Squeeze a trip to the Jean Cocteau Museum into your morning. The museum opened in 2011 and is devoted to artwork by Jean Cocteau and mainly the Séverin Wunderman collection. The eye-catching building was designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti.
After visiting the museum, walk for 2 minutes to Esplanade Francis Palmero and soak up the sea views. There are countless events year-round on the promenade and the play area in the park is suitable for toddlers.

5.30pm – After a chill-out afternoon, head for the Hotel Menton Méditerranée's rooftop terrace and order a drink during Happy Hour (5.30-6.30pm). The hotel's rooftop views overlook the whole of Menton from the surrounding mountains and seaside to the old town.

7.30pm – For dinner enjoy the full three course menu for 23 Euros (starter/main/dessert) at the hotel's restaurant "Le 5" and let our chef and his team pamper you. We serve balanced dishes with fresh fish, poultry, meat and homemade desserts that often use Menton's citrus fruit.
